New Health Atlas Empowers Local Decision-Making Across Central North Carolina
Twenty public health, health system and community-based organizations have come together in an innovative collaborative to amplify local community voice in the community health needs assessment process.
CHICAGO, IL, April 7, 2025 – The Central Carolina Community Collaborative, funded by The Duke Endowment, launches its new online public health interactive data platform with the goal of shared decision making, cost efficiency and informed priority planning to have the greatest impact on diverse communities across three North Carolina public health regions in Central North Carolina.
“Metopio is proud to provide technology, data and expertise to support this innovative collaborative that is one of the largest in the country,” said Angie Grover, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer for Metopio. “Our goal is to make sure each member of the collaborative can increase the speed and accuracy of their individual and unique community assessments and measure their impact as they move from insight to action.”
With over 100 health indicators available, users can explore data visualizations in maps, charts, graphs, and tables tailored to specific communities at the most granular level possible. By streamlining data access, this tool helps identify community health trends, inform funding priorities, and improve collaboration across sectors.
“This innovative tool streamlines the process for stakeholders to locate and analyze health data, significantly enhancing public health initiatives,” said Courtney Meece, Community Health Manager with Rowan Public Health. “The Health Atlas will be an invaluable resource for residents, policymakers, researchers, and community organizations, offering easy access to crucial health data. Its capability to assist in grant writing, decision-making, and creating impactful changes will be transformative. Additionally, we acknowledge that community members often cross county lines, and this tool allows us to extend our reach more effectively.”
