Metopio Powers Kane County’s New Health Atlas to Transform Access to Health Data

Bringing Health Data to the Public with an Easy-to-Use Interactive Platform

Kane County, IL, August 26, 2024 — Kane County Health Department (KCHD) has unveiled the Kane Health Atlas an innovative platform powered by Metopio that enables stakeholders to access and leverage health data to understand disparities and drive data-informed change.

Kane County, IL, faces a range of public health challenges that require data-driven solutions. To address these challenges and empower the community with actionable insights, the Kane County Health Department (KCHD) has launched the Kane Health Atlas.

“We are thrilled to offer this innovative resource to the public. The Kane Health Atlas is designed to help our community better understand and address health challenges by providing the tools needed to visualize and analyze local health data.”
— Michael Isaacson, Executive Director, Kane County Health Department

This interactive tool features over 100 health indicators, which can be visualized through maps, charts, graphs, and tables for any location within Kane County. It is accessible in 10 different languages, making it an inclusive resource for residents. The platform’s comprehensive data offerings help users better understand health issues, identify root causes, foster collaboration, and support data-driven decision-making to make a meaningful impact.

The Kane Health Atlas was recently showcased as an industry-leading example of data sharing during a plenary session at the NACCHO360 conference. The Atlas was designed to simplify access to data, consolidating information from various sources that were previously challenging to compile, assess, and share. Now, users can explore and compare health-related data over time and across communities, providing valuable local context and insight into the many factors that influence public health.

“We believe that better access to better data promotes collaboration and empowers community members to both understand the social determinants of health and take action,” said Angie Grover, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer, Metopio. “With the new Health Atlas, Kane County joins a larger movement among health departments in Illinois and across the country who are moving beyond dashboards to provide their communities with data and tools to increase transparency, improve data equity, and drive real-world impact. We are so pleased to help power their journey.”
